Josvainiai outpatient clinic - health check-up for people over 60 years of age!
On 29 August, people aged over 60 were invited to visit the Josvainiai outpatient clinic, where Danutė Šilkaitienė, a health education organiser/general nurse, tested total cholesterol and glucose levels in the capillary blood, calculated body mass index based on height and weight, measured arterial blood pressure, measured waist and hip circumference and calculated the waist-to-hip ratio. Informative educational material was distributed on health promotion, physical activity, identification and control of disease risk factors and other relevant topics.
On that day, 20 people benefited from the prevention programme, one fifth of whom were men. Patients with higher than recommended levels of total cholesterol or capillary blood glucose (more than half of the subjects) were referred for a more detailed venous test. After assessing not only blood test results but also other risk factors for cardiovascular disease (arterial blood pressure, body mass index, risk of abdominal obesity), patients were referred to Simona Ulerytė, a lifestyle medicine specialist, if indicated.
Prevention services are provided within the framework of the programmes "Prevention of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases in target groups through early diagnostics" and "Promotion of healthy eating and prevention of obesity", funded by the Kėdainiai District Municipality. The measures aim to strengthen the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus in the target group of the Kėdainiai district through early diagnosis and to promote lifestyle changes, with a particular focus on healthy eating and lifestyle, reducing the occurrence and development of chronic non-infectious diseases caused by overweight and obesity. For persons outside the Ministry of Health's preventive age groups.
