A LOW THRESHOLD is a threshold that is easier to cross
Kėdainiai PSPC's low-threshold services team took part in the first low-threshold services congress in Kaunas, which brought together professionals from all over Lithuania - from social workers to health care professionals.
During the congress:
- Dr Aušra Širvinskienė, Director of the Republican Centre for Addiction Diseases (RCDD), thanked the team at the low-threshold rooms for their sincere work with people who are often left on the margins of society - for opening doors that are often closed to them.
- Brigita Rašimaitė (NTAKD) presented the latest data on residue testing of used syringes, which is important information for more effective service planning.
- Agnė and Egidijus Kuckailiai (Kr. charity foundation "Tėvo namai") shared their insights on how to help their clients to solve their debt collection problems.
- Virginijus Varkalis, consultant at the Institute of Individual Psychology, spoke about how to help yourself when working with emotionally difficult clients.
The Kėdainiai PSPC team was actively involved in the working groups - sharing their experience, successful solutions and results that are already benefiting our community.
The Kėdainiai PSPC provides both inpatient and mobile low-threshold services that focus on harm reduction. People who inject drugs or have other addictions can receive:
syringe exchange services;
wound dressings;
personal hygiene equipment and facilities;
Free tests for HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis;
advice on how to get help.
All services are anonymous and free of charge. Because every person deserves to be cared for and to change.
Sometimes the first step is simply opening the door.
