A social worker from the Mental Health Department of the Kėdainiai Primary Health Care Center, accompanied by a general practice nurse, visited the Teen Challenge Charity and Support Foundation center in the village of Pikelių

On March 21, Lina Dubauskienė, a social worker at the Mental Health Department of the Kėdainiai Public Health Center, along with general practice nurse Danutė Šilkaitienė, visited the Teen Challenge Charity and Support Fund center in the village of Pikelių. The center provides comprehensive assistance to individuals struggling with addiction to alcohol, drugs, or other psychotropic substances, as well as to those returning from correctional facilities.

During the visit, rapid tests for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B and C were provided free of charge and anonymously to the facility’s staff and residents. All those tested received pre- and post-test counseling services, were educated on health safety and wound care principles, and were provided with informational and preventive materials. Such low-threshold services not only help detect potential infections early but also promote responsible and healthy lifestyles and raise awareness about the risks of addiction and infectious diseases.

During the visit, we discussed opportunities for further cooperation and mediation with Egidijus, a staff member at the center, with the aim of ensuring ongoing support, health monitoring, and preventive activities for the center’s residents. The cooperation also includes health education, counseling, and support for integration into the community following treatment or release from prison.

Residents of the district who wish to receive the above services free of charge and anonymously are invited to contact the Mental Health Department of the Kėdainiai PSPC, Budrio st. 5, Social Workers' Office No. 1 or call 0 611 10420, 0 695 18681 (we will agree on the date, time and place of the meeting).

These services are provided as part of the project “Strengthening Low-Threshold Services in the Municipalities of Kėdainiai and Raseiniai,” funded by the National Center for Addiction (RPLC).
