First Aid for Infants: Knowledge That Can Save a Life
Participants in the Kėdainiai District Maternity School gathered for the final session of the “Promoting a Healthy Start in Life” program—“First Aid Skills for Parents.” The session was led by Danutė Šilkaitienė, a first aid instructor and health education coordinator at the Kėdainiai Primary Health Care Center (VšĮ Kėdainių PSPC).
During the meeting, participants learned what to do if a baby chokes, loses consciousness, stops breathing, suffers a burn, or experiences another injury. They discussed how to properly assess a situation, when it is necessary to call 112, and what first aid measures to take before medical personnel arrive.
❤️ The most important thing is not just to know, but also to be able to act.
Therefore, a large part of the session was hands-on. Using infant and adolescent manikins, participants learned how to perform first aid, administer CPR, and assist someone who is choking, and they were introduced tothe use ofan automated external defibrillator for children and adults.
At the program’s final session, participants also received gifts—informational materials on first aid and injury prevention, reflectors, and products from “GENBA PHARMA,” as well as merchandise featuring the logo of the Kėdainiai District Maternity School. 🎁
We sincerely thank everyone who participated in the activities of the “Promoting a Healthy Start in Life” program, took an interest in their own health and that of their families, learned new things, and boldly tried out the hands-on activities.
We hope you’ll never need to use this knowledge, but if you do, may it help you preserve what matters most—life. ❤️
The programme "Promoting a Healthy Start in Life" is funded by Kėdainiai District Municipality.
